The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had to listen to some of football’s most respected pundits rip into him last week after the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool.

And he responded in the best way possible, by scoring Tottenham’s opener against Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon.
It was a goal taken with the poise and confidence of the Dele of a couple of years ago as he cut inside from Son Heung-min’s through pass, bided his time and placed a measured finish past Jordan Pickford.
And Alli had a message for his critics with his cheeky celebration:
