“Yet Mason with his big brain never played him” These Fans Are Pretty Vexed Over One Spurs’ Player’s Chances

Evening Standard

Ryan Mason’s Tottenham legacy is under attack from some fans, and with the atmosphere in the fan base becoming increasingly confused and in some instances positively hostile, past decisions are being scrutinized.

Mason was pitched as a unifying character, presented on the coattails of Daniel Levy’s speech about ‘Tottenham DNA’, designed to bring the fans together in the post ‘nasty Portuguese man’ environment.

Questions about Ledley King’s value as a defensive coach had already been asked before Mourinho’s exit, and whilst Mason said all the right things, it was difficult to discern any positive changes to the squad under his watchful eye.

Joe Rodon has impressed during the Euros and despite getting a few appearances under José, Mason appeared absolutely unconvinced by the Welshman.

I take a view that minus the perceived backlash against Mourinho, Ryan Mason will fail to pass muster when the spotlight is only shining on him in splendid isolation.
