“We cannot hurt people” Mourinho Frustrated By His Squad Options

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho conceded that his side made mistakes and were ultimately punished by RB Leipzig in their defeat on Tuesday night.

Spurs trailed 1-0 from the first leg in their Champions League round-of-16 tie and so they had it all to do against Julian Nagelsmann’s side.

Three unanswered goals ensured that the Bundesliga side advance, while Mourinho was left to analyze another defeat having now gone six games without a win across all competitions.

As seen in the video above in his post-match interview with BT Sport, the Spurs boss insisted that his players are giving everything that they can but while they struggled in the final third, the opposition took advantage of their mistakes defensively.

Mourinho also touched on the absence of key players again but was keen to avoid to appear to be making excuses with Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son, Moussa Sissoko, Ben Davies, Davinson Sanchez and Steven Bergwijn all missing in midweek.

Nevertheless, he applauded those who are still at his disposal for their desire to give their all, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to keep their European hopes alive this season.

Tottenham’s focus now switches to the showdown with Manchester United on Sunday as qualifying for the Champions League through their finish in the Premier League standings. That is now their primary, and solitary, objective for this season.
