Tottenham Player Fined 0.4% Of Weekly Wage For Land Rover Speeding Charge

Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez has been fined £276 for a speeding penalty dating back to February of this year.

For many of us mere mortals, that would represent a healthy chunk of our weekly salary, but it is little more than loose change for Sanchez who earns £65,000 a week at Spurs, according to the Daily Mail.

The Colombian defender has also been given three points on his licence following the incident, which saw him drive his Land Rover at 62mph (ca. 100 km/h) in a 50mph (ca. 80 km/h) zone nearly North Finchley in Barnet, at 11pm.

Sanchez joins Hugo Lloris in the Spurs Road Offenders Club. The goalkeeper was found guilty of drink driving last year and was handed the much fairer and proportionate fine of £50,000, reports BBC Sport.

Please forgive me while I now describe Sanchez’s time at Spurs so far using a succession of driving puns. Ready? Start your engines.

The 23-year-old was a flashy new machine bought from a famous garage in Amsterdam in 2017, and the early indications were that he was en route to reach his destination of top Premier League defender.

However, there were a few bumps in the road during Sanchez’s second season. He dropped the gears and ended up being parked on the curb for a period while the club reverted to two classic models.

His new owner has given the South American a much-needed MOT and service, and thankfully he is beginning to pick up speed again.

Right, I’ve had my fun.
