Tottenham must win major silverware for Harry Kane to stay put reckons former Spurs man

Jamie O’Hara has told TalkSPORT that just getting into the top four will not be enough to help Tottenham keep hold of Harry Kane next season.

Kane remains one of the best strikers in the world and at 27, he has never won a major trophy in his career.

He helped Tottenham reach the final of the Champions League last season, but they were beaten by Liverpool to the coveted trophy.

He has insisted that he will not just remain at Spurs for the sake of remaining at the club as he has ambitions as a player, and O’Hara believes that Spurs have to win something in the next year to be able to hold on to their top man.

Several top sides have been looking to sign him over the past few years, but he has stayed loyal to his boyhood club.

But that won’t be for long unless Tottenham can begin to give him trophies that have been missing in his career, according to the former Spurs man.

O’Hara said on talkSPORT: “He is 27 and if he doesn’t do it next season, I think he has got to leave.

“Spurs need to win a trophy next season.”

The former Spurs star added: “I don’t think so [winning the EFL Cup would be enough].

“I think if you win the FA Cup and get top four, you can keep Harry Kane.

“If you just get into top four next season and you don’t win a trophy, I think it is time Harry Kane moves on.”
