Tottenham Linked To Celtic Player Who Ticks A Lot Of Levy Boxes

What are we going to write about during the Coronavirus break? No Tottenham games to dig our teeth into for three weeks…

Ah yes, transfer rumours, and this one comes from Norway’s finest at Sporten.com, who understand that Tottenham will attempt to sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer in the summer.

Ajer is a player we’ve been linked with before, back in 2018 when he was a young pup, as TeamTalk details.

The 6ft 5in centre-back is still only 21 but has outgrown Scottish football, with his agent quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying: “He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer. There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names.”

If reports from Scandanavia are to be believed, Spurs are one of those teams and Ajer is certainly a plausible target.

We will need defensive reinforcements in the summer with Jan Vertonghen out of contract and Juan Foyth out of favour, and financially-stricken Celtic are usually easy prey in the transfer market so Daniel Levy will fancy his chances of getting a deal done at a price he likes.

If he does take off like Celtic alumni Virgil Van Dijk, Ajer would have a big resale value which is another box ticked for Levy.

Cheap, young and unproven; the Tottenham way.
