Tottenham confident of keeping star man despite interest from European giants

Tottenham is confident that Son Heung-min will sign a new long-term contract with them as he continues his fine start to this season, according to The Telegraph.

The South Korean has emerged as one of their most important goal outlets this season, as he combines with Harry Kane to devastating effect.

The attacker’s form has drawn the attention of top teams with Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane reportedly monitoring him at the moment.

The report says that talks of a new deal were slowed down by Son changing representatives and the club will proceed with it now.

He is expected to earn a 25% increase on his current wage with the new contract paying him £200,000-a-week.

This would take him to the top echelons of the club’s wage bill and in close company with the likes of Kane and Gareth Bale.

The attacker has already scored 16 goals in all competitions for them this season, and he is set to keep scoring.

Spurs haven’t won a trophy since 2008, and the form of Son is one that will hopefully snap that run.

He scored one of the goals as they beat Brentford 2-0 in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

They will face Manchester City in the final of the competition, and they have already beaten the Citizens in the Premier League this season.
