Sources: Levy working on a Gareth Bale loan deal

Just when we thought we were out, they pulled us back in… The hunt for a José Mourinho type striker may be over. It is my understanding from a source close to the club that Daniel Levy is doing his absolute upmost to bring Gareth Bale back to Tottenham this summer.

This is not a drill and the window of opportunity to get an agreement hammered out is absolutely there, however only if all parties concerned want to. The opportunity for Real Madrid, in particular, to scupper matters is absolutely there.

The structure as I am given to understand it, is that Spurs would be offering Los Blancos an opportunity to both remove the troublesome Welsh golfer from the Bernabéu, and simultaneously cut Real’s wage obligation to the player, if Levy were to take a sizeable share of the burden. Quite what Bale’s agent would make of such a move, also remains to be seen.

However, the ball is almost entirely in Real Madrid’s court. Given the numerous issues there have been, and the eye-watering salary Bale is on, certainly on one level, it would make sense to ship the 31-year-old back to England – and ideally to N17.
