“Snake”: Olivier Giroud to Tottenham transfer talk has many Arsenal fans fuming

Deadline day is upon us and still no striker.

The rumour mill is still churning hard though and it crudely spat out the name “Olivier Giroud” earlier this week.

A report by Sky Sports claimed that the Chelsea striker would be open to a move to Tottenham, despite his links to North London rivals Arsenal.

Giroud was very popular among the Gunners community, even after he moved to Stamford Bridge.

But that popularity was tested when he shouted: “Thank you Arsenal”, as Chelsea celebrated beating his former club in last year’s Europa League final.

And the relationship between Gooners and Giroud would surely become even more strained if he was to go full William Gallas and complete the Arsenal-Chelsea-Spurs hat-trick.

Angry Arsenal fans have been polluting Twitter in response to the Giroud rumours, with the word “snake” frequently used.

Giroud would actually be a decent short-term solution to our striker shortage. The fact it would sent Gooners into an even deeper meltdown would simply be a bonus.

But there is no guarantee the deal will get done. According to L’Equipe, Chelsea could block Giroud’s exit due to Tammy Abraham’s injury status leaving them short in attack.
