Sky Sports reporter provides an update on £80k pwk player who ‘Conte is a fan of.’

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp does not have a recurring injury and is admired by Antonio Conte.

Skipp quickly established himself as a regular under Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte after returning from a successful loan spell at Norwich in the 2020-2021 season.

He made 28 appearances in his first-team debut season but unfortunately had his season cut short due to injury. And the 22-year-old, who recently signed a new £80,000-per-week contract with his boyhood club, was ready for pre-season but the midfielder’s bad luck continued ahead of the new season when he suffered a hairline fracture in his heel just two weeks before the start of the season.

Skipp has now missed Spurs’ last 22 games in all competitions, but Bridge believes his latest injury is not a cause for concern for Conte. He told GIVEMESPORT:

“It was a heavy gash, and the injury last time was a very difficult injury to sort out and this was a very different body part, we all bleed the same.

“It’s not a recurring groin injury, that’s the point I’m trying to make, he’s been unlucky. But Antonio Conte is clearly a fan of this player and he’s homegrown and Spurs need homegrown players.

“There’s a clear hope that this is unlucky, and he ends up featuring for the rest of the season when he is back.”
