Rice outlines how Spurs can get the best out of ‘incredible’ player who gets ‘slammed and hammered’

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been linked with a move away from the London club this summer.

The 25-year-old failed to establish himself as a key player for Antonio Conte last season and he was loaned out to French club Lyon during the second half of the season.

He managed to put on an impressive display against West Ham United in the Europa League for the French club and his showing certainly impressed the England international midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice has now revealed in an interview that the Tottenham midfielder is a top player and he was incredible against West Ham in the Europa league.

Furthermore, the West Ham midfielder added that players like Ndombele need the freedom to perform at their best and the Frenchman has received harsh and unfair criticism during his time at the London club.

“He gets slammed and hammered a little bit. It’s going to take you back, but Ndombele, who was Spurs. The perception of him, shouldn’t be what it is because I tell you now, he is one of the toughest I have played against. He is top. Just a street footballer on the pitch. He takes the ball anywhere, with little flicks and tricks. Like he doesn’t care. He does everything so confidently.

“With players like that, you just have to let them play. Give them the freedom to go out and do whatever they want. When we played against Lyon in the Europa League, he was incredible. He’s a top player”, Rice said to a YouTube channel.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Villarreal in recent weeks and it will be interesting to see if he can sort out his long-term future before the window closes.

The 25-year-old was regarded as a world-class talent when he joined Tottenham back in 2019 and he needs to play regularly in order to fulfil his tremendous potential.

A move away from Tottenham might be the best for all parties right now.
