Report – Tottenham preparing to make a bid for 23-year-old South American ace

Tottenham is reported to be preparing a bid for FC Porto’s Luis Diaz.

The Colombian is one of the best players at the Portuguese side, and he helped them with 14 goals and 7 assists in all competitions this season.

The left midfielder will add some more flair, goals and assists to the Tottenham team as they compete in four competitions next season.

Portuguese paper, Record, claims that the 23-year-old “pleases Jose Mourinho” and the Portuguese manager will look to sign him.

He only joined the Portuguese side from Juniors for £6.5million last summer, but he might be on the move again.

Tottenham will look to strengthen their team this summer despite the impact of the coronavirus, and Diaz might be one affordable player that they can get.

Speaking about being backed in the transfer market, Mourinho said via Sun Sports:  “Have I had assurances I will not need to sell key players this summer? Yes.

“There will be small changes — a big overhaul needs a lot of money. I don’t think there are many clubs ready to buy, buy, buy — the ones that are going to is because they can do it with or without FFP.”

“If they do it, it’s because they feel they can do it. We know what we can do and what is not possible to do.”

“We don’t want to sell our important players and that immediately is a limitation because by not selling big players you also don’t have big incomings.”

“So we are going to be very balanced but again the objective is to improve the squad. I’m totally convinced we’re going to manage.”

He added: “Sometimes a club can improve by giving a better balance to the squad.

“So we are very calm and our squad next season will be better than this season.”

Tottenham have some of the best players in the Premier League, but they have had to rely on Son Heung-min and Harry Kane for much of their goals, Diaz has the capability to add more goals as well as assists on a regular basis.
