Report: Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the list to sign Barcelona’s Memphis Depay

Tottenham Hotspur began the process of improving their attack during the January transfer window when they added Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus FC. The 21-year-old has proved to be an excellent addition, but Spurs don’t want to stop there.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the arrival of Xavi Hernandez at FC Barcelona has put Memphis Depay, at the moment the top scorer in the squad with ten goals, in the role of a substitute rather the starter he was under previous manager Ronald Koeman.

The Spanish media outlet states that with Depay having one more year on his contract, some Premier League clubs, with Tottenham topping the list, are interested in signing him.

Depay signed a two-year deal, and a return to the England would allow for the 28-year-old to redeem himself after his failed stint with Manchester United. When it comes to the possible price, Transfermarkt puts the Dutch forward’s market value at £40-million.

Both Spurs and Barcelona have a working relationship after last summer’s Emerson Royal transfer, so a deal could occur in a couple of months.
