Report: Newcastle United has Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks on its list of January transfer targets

The January transfer window is set to open next month. Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte continues to evaluate the squad; some players will say goodbye to the north London-based club.

One player that appears to be on his way out is Harry Winks. According to The Telegraph (via Daily Express), the 25-year-old is part of a list of targets that Newcastle United has to reinforce their squad in hopes of fighting out of relegation.

Winks isn’t getting much playing time, and he probably wants to get some prominent minutes to make an impression on Gareth Southgate with the FIFA World Cup less than a year away.

Despite Newcastle United being dead last in the Premier League, Winks could see significant playing time, so that’s a possible situation where he might consider going.

Along with Winks, The Magpies are eyeing Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, Chelsea’s Ross Barkley, Liverpool’s Nat Phillips, Burnley’s James Tarkowski, and Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.
