Report: Mourinho Not Convinced By Parrott In Training

Troy Parrott’s continued absence from the Tottenham first team is because Jose Mourinho is yet to get a response from calling out the young striker.

That is according to a source from Mourinho’s camp who told the London Evening Standard that the Portuguese’s repeated insistence that Parrott is “not ready” to make the step up was a challenge to the 18-year-old.

And the same source claims that Parrott has yet to answer that response to Mourinho’s satisfaction in training, and therefore looks likely to remain out of the picture despite long-term injuries to Harry Kane and Son Heung-min leaving Spurs without a recognised striker and their top two goalscorers.

The Republic of Ireland international has been handed a single short cameo under Mourinho and has only made the matchday squad once since December.

This report is a concern as Parrott should really be champing at the bit for an opportunity and trying to prove to the gaffer that he could be a solution to a problem which is threatening to see our season end in a whimper.

On the other hand – I don’t see what Mourinho has to lose by giving the kid a chance.
