Report: Brace Yourselves For More Danny Rose, Folks

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies could be poised for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with the injury which caused him to miss last night’s Champions League win over Olympiacos, reports Press Association Sport.

The Wales international limped off late in Saturday’s 3-2 win over West Ham United, and was replaced by Danny Rose for the visit of the Greeks.

Jonathan Veal of PA Sport briefly caught up with Davies in the mixed zone after the match, and his assessment of his own injury was pretty gloomy.

We await official word from Spurs on the specificity or severity of the 26-year-old’s problem, although the club are notoriously vague in this regard.

Davies will be gutted, having been given the nod over Danny Rose for Mourinho’s first game in charge he was set for a run as our first-choice left-back.

We are fortunate that we have plenty of options to cover that position – Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Ryan Sessegnon and even Kyle Walker-Peters if necessary.

It would be disappointing to be without Davies for the busiest part of the season but the prospect of seeing more of Sessegnon helps make up for that.
