Real Madrid emerges as contenders for inconsistent Tottenham man

Real Madrid has emerged as surprising suitors for Serge Aurier as his Tottenham future remains unclear.

The Ivorian was expected to leave the Lilywhites in the last summer transfer window after they signed Matt Doherty from Wolves.

However, he remained and even kept his place in the team ahead of the underperforming Republic of Ireland full-back.

He has an expiring contract and there has been no talk of a new deal being offered to him yet.

This summer is another time that Spurs will need to decide if they will allow him to leave for the right fee or give him a new deal.

He has been tipped to make a return to PSG, but a new suitor has emerged with Foot Mercato via Team Talk claiming that Real Madrid wants to sign him.

The report says Madrid likes the fact that he can play as a wing-back and in a back four.

It even claims that Aurier has been talking with Raphael Varane, who was his teammate at Lens about life in Spain.

Although Varane could leave the Bernabeu in the summer, he can still offer advice to the Ivorian.

Aurier can remain at Tottenham beyond this season if the club’s new manager makes him a part of his plans. Time will tell where his future lies.
