Ndombele improvement is down to one thing claims Garth Crooks

Tanguy Ndombele has turned his Tottenham career around after a very poor first season, and his improved relationship with Jose Mourinho has been credited for that.

The Frenchman was Spurs’ major signing in the summer of 2019, but he couldn’t show why he was signed last season.

This campaign has seen a better version of him after he won over Mourinho.

He is now Spurs’ number one creative midfielder and his recent form has been excellent.

He scored a fantastic goal in their game against Sheffield United recently, and Garth Crooks named him in his Team of the Week.

Mourinho can be demanding, and the Portuguese manager doesn’t keep his opinions to himself.

Crooks said that the relationship between the player and his manager has improved drastically, so much so that the former Chelsea boss now trusts him to play more minutes in games.

In turn, Ndombele has been in fine form for the club and continues to repay the show of faith in him.

Crooks said on the BBC: “It’s clear that the relationship between Tanguy Ndombele and Jose Mourinho has improved immeasurably from the days when the Tottenham manager wouldn’t give the player the time of day. ”

“Over a period of months we’ve seen the France international start to dominate matches and seen Mourinho less inclined to substitute the player late in games. Ndombele has, in return, grown in confidence and looked very impressive away at Sheffield United. ”

“His goal was quite brilliant and while Spurs have lacked craft and ingenuity in midfield, especially at home, here is a player who might suddenly provide the answer.”
