More credit should be given to Mourinho claims club owner

Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony is the latest individual to claim that Jose Mourinho is a better manager than he’s being given credit for.

The Special One has won three Premier League titles as well as two Europa Leagues and two Champions League, yet he is one manager that the press cannot wait to slate.

He returned to English football with Tottenham last year after his time at Manchester United and he is looking to help the Lilywhites end their wait for a new trophy.

Paul Robinson had told Sky Sports earlier in the week, that the Portuguese manager is a soft target for the media who don’t give him enough credit.

MacAnthony has added his voice to that. The Liverpool fan admitted that he has always been a Mourinho fan as well before claiming that he has some acquaintances in the media who just don’t like the manager and they just want him to give them the chance to slate him.

“I’ve always been a Mourinho fan, and I know the press hate him. There’s a few of my pals in the press who despise Mourinho,” he said to the Hard Truth podcast.

“But Mourinho has shown what a job he did at United now, getting them second and winning trophies. People wanted to laugh at him leaving.

“Look at the way he’s got Spurs playing! I tipped Spurs as the dark horse.

“You take that penalty away last week and they’re second or third. I’m telling you now, he’s going to get them top four.”
