“Looks lost” – Former Tottenham defender shares initial thoughts on Emerson

In the final hours of the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur initiated discussions with FC Barcelona and was able to land Emerson Royal as they revamped part of their backline this summer.

The north London-based club paid £25.8 million for Emerson, who’s adjusting to the Premier League since he’s only played in Spain after making the jump from Brazil to Europe.

Emerson has made two starts for Tottenham, but the bad news for the 22-year-old is that the team has lost back-to-back 3-0 results to Crystal Palace and Chelsea, so any warts in his game are in the spotlight.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts spoke to Football Fancast and provided his thoughts on Emerson.

“I think the right-back who’s come in looks lost at the moment; I think Tanganga has to get back in there,” Roberts said.

The right-back has the opportunity to impress when Tottenham faces Arsenal for the latest edition of the North London derby. Spurs want to get their Premier League season back on the rails, and they’ll need Emerson to contribute as they look for all three points.
