‘I’ll be very surprised’ – BT Sport pundit gives verdict on the future of Antonio Conte at Spurs

This week, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte hinted that he could be departing following the loss to Burnley. However, the Italian manager walked backed his comments, and the north London club came away with an impressive win against Leeds United.

Despite Conte committing himself to the project, BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand believes that the Italian manager will not be there past this summer.

The former Manchester United cites his appearances in the media and his current squad as to why Conte will depart. The 52-year-old signed a contract that keeps him at Spurs until 2023 when he arrived in late November.

“I don’t think he’ll be there after the summer,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport (via Daily Express)“Based on what I’ve seen in the media and the players he’s got there. I think he’ll be quite comfortable going: ‘listen, I didn’t know it was that bad.’”

“He’s not someone who will look back and regret that; I’ll be very surprised if he’s still here.”

There are a few months until the end of the season, so it will be interesting to see how Conte reacts should they miss out on the top-four. Spurs sit in seventh place, sit in seventh place, five points out of fourth place.

The north London club also has two games in hand over Manchester United, who currently occupies that fourth place.
