Tottenham have been paired with an interest in Manchester City defender John Stones this summer.
The 25-year-old has been with the reigning Premier League champions since 2016, as he has made over 100 appearances for the club while winning a whole host of trophies.
However, speculation suggests that he could be moving on from the Etihad this summer, with the Express reporting that both Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in him but he could cost £50m to prise away from City.
Having conceded 40 goals in 29 league games so far this season, giving Spurs the joint-worst defensive record of the top 10 sides in the Premier League table, it’s clear that it’s an area in which Jose Mourinho will want to see his side improve.
With the Sun noting that stalwart Jan Vertonghen could be set for an exit at the end of the season when his contract expires, that could serve to further emphasise the need for defensive reinforcements at Spurs.
Judging from the tweets below, there are a number of Tottenham fans who would seemingly support a possible swoop for Stones with his winning mentality cited as a key factor.
However, there are those who doubt the sense behind the move too, questioning the England international’s habit of making mistakes which have been an issue for both club and country in recent times.
