“He is someone who could come in and organise that defence” Pundit talks up possible Bonucci transfer

Leonardo Bonucci has been linked with a sensational move to Tottenham as Fabio Paratici looks to change the squad he inherits in north London.

Spurs have underachieved for years now and they have made Paratici their director of football because of the success he enjoyed at Juventus.

He helped the Old Lady to win nine consecutive league titles before leaving them at the end of last season.

He would be expected to bring some familiar faces to London and one of the most high-profile transfers he can pull off would be signing Bonucci for Spurs.

The Italian centre-back is one of the best in Serie A and he remains a key member of the Juve and Italian national team squads.

It wouldn’t be easy to take him away from Serie A and he might not impress in England.

Former Arsenal man, Kevin Campbell spoke about the exciting prospect of Tottenham signing him and admits that Bonucci will organise Tottenham’s defence and might have the physicality to thrive in England.

However, he thinks the defender will struggle with the pace of the English game.

Campbell told Football Insider: “Bonucci’s no spring chicken but he is someone who could come in and organise that defence which is needed at Spurs.

“He’s never played in the Premier League before and at the end of the day what you can get away with in Italy, you can’t in England.

“The football is a lot quicker and a lot more physical here and while he will be fine with the physicality I think he would struggle with the pace of the game.

“It will be an interesting one to keep an eye on. I think it would be a big signing but a big gamble.”
