“He had no say over the players brought in” Former Spurs man makes big Nuno claim

Former Tottenham number one, Paul Robinson is convinced that Tottenham didn’t consult Nuno Espirito Santo on the players he wanted before their summer transfer business.

He made this judgement after watching the manager’s team selection for their match against Arsenal at the weekend.

Nuno Santo didn’t play summer signings Bryan Gil and Cristian Romero from the start of the game and that convinced Robinson that he probably never got consulted before the club signed them.

Spurs were beaten 3-1 by their neighbours in the match and Robinson believes the outcome would have been different if both summer signings had started the game.

He reckons Gil has been Tottenham’s best-attacking player recently and the Spaniard should definitely have been in the starting XI for that game.

“Nuno wasn’t first choice and judging by his team selection against Arsenal he had no say over the players brought in over the summer,” he told Football Insider.

“For me, Romero plays. Why he didn’t play [in the north London derby] I don’t know.

“The same applies to Gil. He has been their best player attacking-wise so I would’ve started him as well.

“There is a lot to come out of Tottenham this week. There is a lot of unrest in the team and at the club, and the performance at the weekend epitomised that. There is a fundamental problem at the club at the moment.”

Nuno Santo is a man under pressure and naming him the replacement for Jose Mourinho is beginning to look like a poor decision at the moment.
