Gazzaniga did a decent job, he doesn’t deserve to be the third choice | Opinion

The transfer window is closed now and Tottenham will most likely feel that they have had a fine window.

Jose Mourinho was backed heavily and he even brought in Joe Hart despite having Paolo Gazzaniga, who did a decent job when he covered for Hugo Lloris last season.

The Argentine is a very good back up goalkeeper and I am a little surprised that the club appears to have sacrificed him for Joe Hart who struggled to play at Burnley.

Even after accepting the decision to sign Hart, I expected the club to try to sell Gazzaniga or send him out on loan to where he will play more often.

But the deadline day has passed and he remains at the club.

Remaining at Spurs means that he will be the third choice and it might take an injury to the first and second choice keepers before he will play for the club again.

From playing 18 league games last season, he will likely never play for Spurs again and I think that is unfair on him.

I know that Jose Mourinho wants to win trophies for the club and I want that too, I hope that he will either hand Gazzaniga some more opportunities to play or allow him to leave in the January transfer window.

Given a choice, I would prefer that Gazzaniga was the backup keeper as opposed to Hart, seems that Mourinho and the club have a different view.
