Former Tottenham superstar isn’t confident of securing Bale type return

Luca Modric isn’t confident that he can follow in the footsteps of Gareth Bale and make a return to Tottenham.

Bale made the return to the Tottenham Stadium this summer, seven years after he left Spurs for Real Madrid.

Madrid also signed Modric from Tottenham and the Croatian developed into one of the world’s best players.

He reached the final of the World Cup with the Croatian national team in 2018 and he also won the Ballon d’Or that year.

He has also won multiple domestic and Champions League trophies at the Spanish side, but he has under a year left on his current deal with them.

He was peaking to Four Four Two via Mail Online about his future and he claimed that at 35, he is too old to think about making a return to Tottenham as Bale has just done.

He added that he still hopes to continue playing the game regardless.

‘I’m too old to go back to Tottenham,’ Modric told FourFourTwo via Mail Online.

‘I still have a year left in Madrid and then we’ll see what happens.

‘I feel good and I want to continue playing football for a few more years. I am focused on Madrid and the things we can achieve this season.

‘Afterwards I will sit down to talk to the management, and we will look for a suitable solution for everyone. I have forged a good relationship with all the people of the club and no matter what happens there will be no problem.’
