Tanguy Ndombele hasn’t lived up to the transfer fee that Tottenham Hotspur paid for in 2019.
The France international has yet to cement himself as an undisputable start. With the arrival of manager Antonio Conte, he’ll need to impress if he wants to remain in north London.
Former Tottenham midfielder Tim Sherwood believes this is Ndombele’s last chance to succeed with Spurs during an interview with Optus Sport (via Spurs Web).
Sherwood states that after three managers, the fourth should be the final chance for the 24-year-old, even if it means Tottenham takes a loss on their initial investment.
“It’s the last-chance saloon for [Tanguy] Ndombele. I’m sure there’s someone on the continent. They certainly won’t get their money back,” Sherwood said.
“It’s not worked out, but sometimes you have to look in the mirror. He’s seen off three managers, and I’m sure [Antonio] Conte will be seeing him off if he doesn’t start performing.”
Spurs paid €62-million, and they’ll hope to get at least half of that money back should they decide to move on from the midfielder. The next couple of months will show whether Ndombele has a place on Conte’s squad heading forward or if he will pack his bahs for a one-way ticket out of the club.
