FA launch investigation into Dier altercation

The FA have now reportedly begun an investigation into the incident which took place after Tottenham’s FA Cup tie with Norwich City involving Eric Dier.

Footage has circulated across social media showing the Spurs midfielder climbing the stands to confront a fan.

According to the Independent, it has been suggested that he went to defend his brother from an abusive supporter, but his actions could now see the FA take disciplinary measures against him.

It’s unclear at this stage as to what punishment could be handed out by the governing body, but Dier will face an anxious wait as the investigation is carried out.

Tottenham crashed out of the FA Cup on Wednesday night after falling to defeat following a penalty shootout.

Josip Drmic drew the visitors level after Jan Vertonghen had broken the deadlock, but Tim Krul was the hero for Daniel Farke’s side as he saved two penalties in the shootout to send his side through to the quarter-finals.

However, much of the post-match focus has been on Dier’s actions, as the 26-year-old now waits to see what the FA decide is the most suitable action.
