‘Disaster’ – Antonio Conte sums up Spurs performance against Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur might have kissed away their top-four aspirations following their 1-0 loss to Burnley. After an impressive win against Manchester City this past weekend, Spurs laid an egg with their performance at Turf Moor.

In 90 minutes, Tottenham had two total shots on target against Burnley and their aspirations to play in the UEFA Champions League. Manager Antonio Conte spoke to talkSPORT and described the result against Burnley as a ‘disaster.’

“This is a disaster. It’s a disaster for a club like Tottenham. It means that sadly it’s not going in the best way,” Conte said.

“When I say about making an assessment, for sure I have to speak with the club. I have to speak with the club to talk and find the right solution because, I repeat, it’s not right to continue this way.”

Conte went on to state that he came to north London to help improve the squad, but thus far, he hasn’t been able to lift Spurs to the point where they’re in the middle of the top-four race.

When the Italian tactician came in, he helped turn their season around from where it was heading, but having four of their last five Premier League matches, it’s beginning to take its toll on Conte.

“I came here to improve the situation, but at the moment, the situation is not improving. I need to speak with the club. I am available. I am open. For sure, I can’t accept this type of situation. I don’t like to lose games in a row in this way,” Conte said.

Spurs now sit seven points from Manchester United with only two games in hand to make up any ground on The Red Devils.
