“Direct contact with people” – Fabrizio Romano confirms Spurs are ‘doing their best’ to get deal agreed

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur is putting in considerable effort to retain their star player Harry Kane, whose contract is set to expire in June 2024.

Kane’s future at the club has been uncertain since he expressed his desire to leave last year for Manchester City but Spurs refused to sell him.

He was then linked with Bayern Munich this summer with the Bundesliga club publicly expressing their interest in signing him as a replacement to Robert Lewandowski.

Nevertheless, recent reports suggest that Kane is content with new manager Antonio Conte and is considering extending his contract at Tottenham. After scoring the winning goal in a recent game against Manchester City, he even hinted at staying at the club.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are doing everything possible to retain Kane and negotiate a new contract with him. He also refuted reports of any direct contact between Kane’s camp and Manchester United.

He said on his Youtube channel:

“What I can say is that Man United never had any kind of direct contact with people close to Harry Kane, with his family, his brother they’re taking care of the player’s future.”

“The feeling of people into Tottenham is that they will do their best to keep Harry Kane at the club, to negotiate a new contract very soon to discuss with Kane and keep Kane at the club.”

The situation remains intriguing because this may be Tottenham’s last chance to cash in on their best player, particularly with his contract coming to an end in 18 months.

Additionally, Kane is already 29 years old and has yet to win a trophy with Spurs, which could prompt him to seek a move elsewhere.

However, for now, Tottenham seems committed to keeping Kane, as confirmed by Romano’s update.
