Despite top-four failure, Rodgers reiterates that he is staying at Leicester

Brendan Rodgers has pledged his loyalty to Leicester City again despite their failure to make the Premier League’s top four.

The Northern Irishman is one of Tottenham’s targets to replace Jose Mourinho as their next manager.

Daniel Levy has always been a fan of Rodgers and wanted to make him the Tottenham boss in 2012.

Rodgers joined Liverpool and almost won the Premier League in the 2013/2014 season.

He then moved to Celtic, where he dominated the Scottish game before Leicester brought him back to England.

He has helped them to top-five finishes in the last two seasons and won the FA Cup in this campaign.

The Foxes were in the mix for a top-four finish until the last day of the season and needed to beat Tottenham at home to achieve that.

But Spurs came from behind to beat them 4-2 at the King Power Stadium and spoil their bid for a UCL place.

Spurs would have hoped that finishing outside the top four would make Rodgers consider leaving.

But he spoke after the game and insisted that failure to make the top four only gives him more motivation to stay and achieve more with Leicester.

‘There are no worries about myself,’ said Rodgers via Mail Sport

‘I love it here at Leicester, even more so now that we’ve just missed out. It motivates me even more to be here and try to push the club to that top level.

‘We need to bring in players who have won something and competed at the top end with their teams.’
