Antonio Conte discusses Harry Kane, Son Heung-min leading way in the fight for top-four

Recently Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte stated that he wants his veteran players who have been a race for a top-four finish, especially for this past weekend’s fixture against West Ham United.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min answered the call on Sunday against The Hammers. Kane didn’t score, but Spurs striker assisted on two of the North London club’s goals in 90 minutes. Meanwhile, Son scored a brace to help lift the squad with a 3-1 win.

During his news conference with the media, Conte was asked what his thoughts were seeing his two veteran players respond to his remarks during the week.

“We know very well the difficulty to reach this target, but it’s right to start because Tottenham needs to have the ambition to play in the best competition,” Conte said, per Football.London.

“We know that there is Arsenal that has in this moment has taken advantage on the table, and they’re showing great stability, and then there is also West Ham and United, but we want to try to fight to have this target. To have this ambition is important, to ask to all the players but especially the important players because they have to take the responsibility to transfer this message, to trust and to show confidence and I think this message has passed.”

Tottenham finds themselves in fifth place, three points away from Arsenal, who occupy the fourth as they leaped over Manchester United and West Ham in the Premier League table. Conte will hope that this is a sign that he will see the two best players on the squad lead them as they fight for the top-four.
