£288,000-per-week Jose Mourinho set for salary bonus if Tottenham make 2020-21 Champions League

Jose Mourinho is said to be second only to Pep Guardiola on the list of the Premier League’s highest-paid managers.

And his pay packet will be even fatter if Spurs end the season in a Champions League qualification place.

It was claimed by The Sun shortly after Mourinho arrived in November that he had been handed a £15m salary – reportedly double that of Jurgen Klopp and just £5m shy of Guardiola’s yearly pay.

Should The Sun’s data be correct, that means Mourinho’s weekly wage equates to just over £288,000.

And now the Daily Mail report that Mourinho will pick up a £2m bonus should Spurs continue their run of playing in Europe’s top competition.

Former boss Mauricio Pochettino guided Spurs into the Champions League in four straight seasons, but left the club 11 points adrift of fourth place when he was sacked late last year.

The Mail claim that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has a history of offering cash bonuses to managers that hit targets.

Spurs are currently nine points below fourth-placed Chelsea with 16 rounds of fixtures left to play.

Mourinho will take charge of his 15th Spurs game in all competitions on Saturday when Watford come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Under Mourinho, Spurs have won seven times, losing five and drawing two. His win percentage is therefore, 50% – the same as a certain Tim Sherwood.
