West Ham leading Spurs in the race for Serie A striker because of same old issue

Corriere dello Sport reports that West Ham is ahead of Tottenham in the race to sign Napoli striker, Arkadiusz Milik.

The Pole is set to leave the Italian side next month after he was frozen out of their first team for the first half of this season.

After refusing to sign a new deal with Napoli, he was told to find a new team that he could play for.

But no team was able to meet the Naples side’s asking price for his signature and he was forced to remain with them.

He has played only international football this season, and he risks not playing again if he stays in Naples beyond the next transfer window.

Several teams want to sign him, Spurs and the Hammers are the two English teams with the strongest interest in his signature.

Tottenham signed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica in the summer, but he is yet to prove to Jose Mourinho that he is good enough to start league games for the club.

Spurs would have to pay a lot of money to make his loan deal permanent and that might make Milik a better option.

The report, however, says that West Ham is in a better position because he would find it easier to be a first-team regular there.

Spurs would only sign him to become a backup to Harry Kane, but the Hammers would likely make him a more important player.
