Video: Despite the loss to West Ham Nuno Espírito Santo states Tottenham were better team

Tottenham Hotspur headed into their matchup against West Ham United riding a four-match win streak in all competitions. Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad hoped to make it five versus The Hammers, but things didn’t go according to plan.

After 70 minutes of 0-0 football, West Ham United would open the scoring courtesy of Michail Antonio. The 31-year-old would score the lone goal in the match, giving David Moyes’ squad the 1-0 victory.

Following the defeat, Nuno spoke to Sky Sports, where he stated that despite the loss, the Portuguese tactician says he felt his squad was the better team.

“We were the better team, honestly. I think we controlled the game; we had chances. We had possession. West Ham is a good team, but they only created chances on counter-attacks and set-pieces. We played better, but this is football,” Nuno said.

“The last pass was there, but we need to be more aggressive in our offensive game. We controlled the game. The whole game was under control. The table is a reference but doesn’t guide us. We have to improve our character as a team, our wish to want to achieve a better team game. We need to work on that.”
