Vertonghen’s Dramatic Stoppage-Time Winner Vs. Wolves [Video]

There is no better feeling in football than a last-minute winner.

And, from a Tottenham Hotspur perspective, there may be no more unlikely source of that last-minute winner than Jan Vertonghen.

After having endured a torrid afternoon up against the unstoppable force that was Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore, Vertonghen had the last laugh when he headed Spurs to a 2-1 victory.

It is a brilliant header from the Belgian, to steer the ball right into the bottom corner, the only place he could beat Rui Patricio, while the delivery from Christian Eriksen was curling away from goal. He may have been unmarked, but he was 14 yards (ca. 13 m) away from goal when he made contact.

A fourth victory from five Premier League games under Jose Mourinho takes us to fifth in the table, just three points adrift of fourth-place Chelsea.

Beat the Blues next week and we are fourth. COYS.
