Tottenham have been upholding the tradition of investing in their academy players for the future.

Under Ange Postecoglou, several youth players have been given opportunities and integrated into the first team.

This season, youngsters like Ashley Phillips, Alfie Dorrington, Alejo Veliz, Jamie Donley, and Mikey Moore have all been promoted from the youth ranks to Spurs’ senior squad.

And now, Tottenham have committed another youngster to a long-term contract.

The club has announced on their official website that George Abbott has agreed to a new deal with Tottenham, which will extend the teenager’s contract until 2027. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey for Abbott as he progresses in his football career.

The defensive midfielder, having been associated with the North London outfit since a very young age, initially joined the club’s Under-8 team before steadily progressing through the ranks over the years, eventually playing for the U21 side.

Abbott has been highly impressive for the Spurs’ U21 side, scoring 2 goals and providing an assist in 12 Premier League 2 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

The youngster boasts a versatile profile, having also been deployed at centre-back three times and right-back on two occasions.

Additionally, the 18-year-old possesses leadership traits, currently captaining the U21 side this season.

They are leading the Premier League 2 standings with 46 points, four clear of the second-placed West Ham.

Meanwhile, Abbott is also involved with England’s youth national teams, having played for the U18s and recently debuting for the England U19s earlier in March.
