“Turning into a bit of a nightmare” Pundit points the blame in one direction for Tottenham mess

Former Blackburn striker, Chris Sutton has questioned Tottenham’s decision to hire Nuno Espirito Santo as the manager following their latest set of poor results.

Spurs have lost their last three league matches after opening the campaign with three consecutive league wins.

The Lilywhites reached a new low at the weekend when Arsenal beat them 3-1 in the North London derby.

That is the third consecutive time they have conceded three goals in a game in the league this season and it doesn’t speak well of Nuno Santo.

Spurs hired him as their boss after missing out on several of their top targets in the summer and his appointment looks like a bad business decision right now.

Sutton says he understands Nuno has been put in a tough position but is concerned at how uncoordinated Tottenham’s players were in the derby.

He claimed they looked confused about what to do before adding that Spurs fans will not get the style of football they want from Nuno Santo.

However, he does not blame Nuno for the mess, he points his finger elsewhere.

Sutton said to the BBC: “He’s been put in an incredibly difficult situation, there’s no doubt about that.

“But Nuno’s comments blaming himself after the Arsenal game were worrying, and blaming the players as well.

“There were players not running back, unsure about what jobs they were being asked to do. They were a complete and utter shambles. I don’t think Spurs fans will ever get the type of football they want under Nuno. Chuck in the Kane stuff as well and it’s turning into a bit of a nightmare.

“The appointment simply didn’t fit and that’s on [chairman] Daniel Levy.”
