Tottenham target discouraged from moving to England

Liverpool is battling Tottenham for the signature of Milan Skriniar, but the Slovakian has been urged to remain at Inter Milan.

Skriniar has been a long term target of Jose Mourinho who also wanted to sign him when he was the manager of Manchester United.

Tottenham made him one of their top summer targets in the last transfer window, but the deal never materialised.

The Lilywhites still maintain an interest in his signature ahead of the reopening of the transfer window, even though they eventually signed Joe Rodon from Swansea (TalkSport).

They will now have to face competition from Liverpool (Onefootball), who is suffering a defensive crisis following injuries to the likes of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk.

Martin Skrtel who made a name for himself in the Premier League with Liverpool has now urged Skriniar to remain at Inter Milan and to fight for a return to the starting XI instead of leaving.

‘There are moments in life of every player where things go really well, but there are also moments where things don’t go as planned,’ Skrtel told Sport Aktuality, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

‘When this happens it is important for a player to react. Skriniar is going through something similar to this at Inter.

‘In recent games he has lost his role as a starter and there is more and more talk about the fact that he could leave the club. (But) he is still young and he should remain strong and fight for his recovery.

‘Although there is the interest of English and Spanish clubs, the best solution for him would be to stay at Inter, where he has built a great name for himself.’
