That was not the most inspiring game but it is a win and three points and that is all that matters at this stage of the season. Doing the Tottenham player ratings after a game like that is never easy because the lads did win but it would not have justified the admission price if fans were allowed in.
It was a typical Jose Mourinho match, dreary but effective and there is no point being over critical when three points have been bagged against a team that did represent a big threat,
Tottenham Player Ratings
Hugo Lloris – 5
Would have been higher but he risked a red card at the end of the first half because he could not wait to get into the dressing room to give Son a deserved rollicking.
Serge Aurier – 7
Actually had a good game doing what he is paid to do, defend.
Toby Alderweireld – 7
Was a rock in defence, was calm throughout with some good passing thrown in as well. Should be hard to dislodge for next game.
Eric Dier – 7
Solid in defence and made some good runs out of defence at opportune moments.
Ben Davies – 5
Too much messing about on the ball and fairly ineffective going forward.
Moussa Sissoko – 7
Did very well in midfield and played his role defending when required.
Harry Winks – 7
Busy as usual but with very little end product but did his job well in both midfield and defence when needed.
Giovani Lo Celso – 8
Man of the match for me, earned the goal, was always linking up play and generally a pain in the butt for Everton.
Lucas Moura – 5
A shadow of the player he was last season, really does not suit the Mourinho style.
Son Heung-min – 5
Another very average game, he did get some shots off but always straight at the keeper or first defender.
Harry Kane – 6
Worked hard and never stopped running, helped out in defence as well, he is still clearly short of fitness.
Subs
Steven Bergwijn – 5
Only on for ten minutes and did as expected
Erik Lamela – 5
Another one that was not on too long that did what was asked of him
Jan Vertonghen – N/A
Not on long enough to get a rating
Manager
Jose Mourinho – 7
It was a win for the manager I suppose but the football is just horrible to watch.
