Tottenham Hotspur in talks with Qatar Investment Fund over potential investment; PSG chief meets Daniel Levy

The Qatari owners of Paris Saint-Germain are considering investing in a club in the English Premier League.

According to CBS Sports, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG and chairman of Qatar Sports Investments, met with Daniel Levy, the executive chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, in a London hotel last week.

As per the reports, the PSG owners are hoping to secure a ‘minority investment‘ in a Premier League club in 2023 and the meeting with Levy is a ‘kickoff meeting rather than anything advanced‘.

The report further adds that  QSI are still ‘assessing‘ a number of clubs but it is clear that they are genuinely interested in an investment in a Premier League club which is of ‘significant appeal to them‘.

Al-Khelaifi is also the president of the European Club Association, and Levy is a member of its executive board.

QSI, which owns PSG and holds a minority stake in Portuguese club Braga, is committed to buying or investing in additional clubs this year.

There are more than 300 clubs worldwide that are part of multi-club ownership groups, but currently, QSI’s interests are only in PSG and Braga. However, the company plans to make ambitious strategic acquisitions in 2023 and expand its portfolio.

It was previously thought that QSI would reduce its focus on football investments following the World Cup in Qatar, but it now appears that the company is planning to increase its involvement in the sport.

It is known that the owners of Manchester United and Liverpool are also looking for investors or buyers for their clubs.
