8 Years Of Fantastic Service From Jan Vertonghen

After eight years of good service to Tottenham Hotspur, the end has come for Jan Vertonghen in North London.

This is because a new report from the Express claims that the Belgian will be a free agent in the summer after Jose Mourinho called off talks of a new deal for the former Ajax man.

For the majority of his time at Tottenham, Vertonghen was an undisputed starter, and he helped the club to reach the Champions League final last season.

After allowing his contract to run into its final year, the defender will now leave Mourinho’s side as one of the most valuable free agents available for other teams in the summer.

Although Spurs didn’t win a trophy with him on their team, he played over 300 games for the Lilywhites.

He played at least 33 games for the club in all competitions every season that he spent with Spurs apart from this campaign where he has played just 26 times so far.

After spending 12 million Euros to acquire his services from Ajax, he deserves nothing but respect and praise from Spurs’ fans for the dedication he showed for the team during his time with us and I can only wish him the best of luck on his next move.
