Tottenham Hotspur is looking to upgrade its backline this summer. However, after reportedly whiffling on their top target in Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, the north London club might need to cross another name off their list.

According to Transfermarkt, Chelsea and Spurs have been warned by RB Leipzig that their star defender Josko Gvardiol is not for sale at any price this summer. Despite the interest from Premier League clubs, the German side wants to hold onto the 20-year-old, who has all the leverage.

Gvardiol is under contract with Leipzig until 2026, so RB Leipzig doesn’t have to sell if they don’t feel like it’s in the club’s best interest. The Croatian is valued at £32 million, but there’s no doubt they want more considering the market he’s already commanding.

For Spurs and Chelsea, it’s back to the drawing board as Tottenham eyes a central defender to go along with Cristiano Romero and Eric Dier; meanwhile, The Blues are looking to replace the outgoing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen, who departed as free agents.
