Report – Tottenham set their sights on a cheaper alternative to Milik

Sky Sports is reporting that Tottenham has turned their attention towards signing Watford’s Troy Deeney as a cheaper alternative to Arkaduisz Milik.

The Lilywhites are in the market for a new striker and Jose Mourinho has insisted that they will sign a striker before this transfer window closes.

The special one wants to win trophies for the club this season and he has told them that he cannot rely on Harry Kane alone.

The England striker is reliable, but he has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.

When he misses games, Spurs almost cannot score goals and that is something Mourinho doesn’t want to experience again.

Milik has been one of the club’s top target in this transfer window, however, the Napoli striker will not come cheap.

Despite having less than 12 months left on his current deal, the Naples side values him at £32.5m.

The fee seems to have turned Spurs off for now especially because they can reach a pre-contract agreement with him in January.

Deeney is now the centre of the attention after the 32-year-old admitted that he didn’t know if he will be playing for the Hornets this season.

Spurs still have enough time to sign the former Walsall man.
