Paul Robinson gives the reason why Spurs may sign a new midfielder next month

Next month presents teams with opportunities to sign new players and Tottenham will likely bolster their options.

The Lilywhites have been one of the best teams in the first half of the season, but they have been on a poor run of form in recent games.

They have some of the best players in the competition and it will be understandable if they don’t sign any players next month.

However, they have been linked with a move for Marcel Sabitzer recently with reports claiming that Jose Mourinho likes the Austrian (Football London).

He has been one of the finest players at RB Leipzig since he joined them and would probably be an effective addition to the Tottenham team.

But Paul Robinson says that Tottenham already have too many players in that position and the only reason why they will look to bring in someone new is if they lose Dele Alli.

He told Football Insider: “I do not think Spurs need an offensive midfielder but if Dele Alli leaves then a space in the squad may become available. They are blessed in that area though.

“Every squad in the world can be strengthened by world-class players but Spurs will not add players for the sake of it.

“The squad Mourinho has built there is one of the best I have seen at the club in years.”
