Next Summer Daniel Levy Will Have A Seemingly Impossible Negotiation Ahead Of Him

The return of Gareth Bale has been rather fairytale like, perhaps a rather mooted on given that the absence of fans from the stadiums has put paid to the echoing refrains of ‘Bale, Bale, Bale’. There’s an interesting piece in the English Marca this morning, which speculates about the future of the Welshman.

Tottenham’s loan deal runs until nest summer and as most will be aware, includes a rather hefty €15million subsidy to the Real Madrid stars’ wages. Without such a helping hand, it would be impossible for Spurs to keep the 31-year-old on for a second season.

One solution might be for Daniel Levy to offer to buy Bale outright from the Spanish which might cost as little as £25million, however, that wouldn’t address the salary issue. Marca believe that Bale will be sold, just as James Rodriguez was to Everton, as the giants look to ease their current €283million wage bill. There is a third option, that Bale returns to the Santiago Bernabéu IF Zidane were to be replaced, but that would presumably mean asking Gareth to forget the abuse he received from Los Blancos fans. Either way, more Real Madrid subsidizing looks unlikely.

I am given to understand from a source close to the club, that Bale was not a Mourinho pick, rather an impossible to ignore opportunity presented to Levy. Whatever the financial juggle Spurs went through to make the move happen, Bale is not cheap to feed.

Come next summer, Daniel Levy will need to make a difficult decision. To have enjoyed the romance of a season long Bale loan, or thrash out a seemingly impossible deal to let the boy finish his career in North London.
