“…look at Tottenham” Jürgen Klopp makes interesting comments on Spurs’ transfer activity

Jurgen Klopp has spoken about Tottenham’s recent transfer activities this summer and believes they have only become stronger.

His team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United in their first pre-season friendly in Bangkok. Even though the team fielded by Jurgen Klopp was practically his third choice team compared to a very strongly fielded Manchester United team but the match showed the impact Erik Tan Hag has had on the team.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp pointed out how the various teams in the big 6 have improved themselves this summer, including Tottenham’s transfer activity. He said (via football.london):

“You have to look at Tottenham, and what they are doing at the moment. They didn’t get worse this year. Arsenal are still there, Man United with a new start, all these kind of things.

“It’s always the same and we changed a little bit — not too much, but a bit. City changed maybe more, I don’t know, but we will see in the next few weeks. But that’s how it is.”

“The basis has to be right, and it is right for us and from there, we can go. I’m not interested in the points we had last year, I’m only interested in what we can get this season, but I am positive, really optimistic, but I’m not sure, so we will have to fight and see what the outcome is.”

Liverpool lost the league to Manchester City by just a single point in the most dramatic way in a season where the two teams dominated and the rest lagged behind. But with the team Antonio Conte is building this summer, Tottenham are expected to give Manchester City and Liverpool a tough time next season.
