After securing Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Southampton; to give Spurs the central defender they had been missing since almost forever, Matty Doherty, the attacking right back that had been missing since Kyle Walker went to Manchester City, some three years ago, plus the hugely experienced Joe Hart, Daniel Levy is now on a mission not to let Tottenham be the club that the serial winner José Mourinho failed at.
According to The Evening Standard, enquiries are now being made for Danny Ings, Bas Dost, and Ruben Dias.
Danny Ings looks perhaps impossible, certainly improbable, after Southampton gave Levy a taste of his own medicine, making Spurs jump through several hoops before finally relinquishing in respect of Højbjerg, at considerably less than the originally touted asking price.
Arkadiusz Milik will be the one that got away, but the outstanding prizes from this window are so bountiful, that in such circumstances Levy can be forgiven for not snaring them all. It’s when he’s returned with a cheap punt or nothing at all that the knives come out. Fans are not unreasonable creatures. So hopefully our CEO isn’t expecting a round of applause for excelling at his day job, for once.
