Italian sides battling it out for hitman while Tottenham wait in the wings

Tottenham’s reluctance to get serious about their move for Fenerbahce’s Vedat Muriqi could see them miss out on the striker as he edges closer to a move to the Italian Serie A.

Spurs have been looking for a new backup striker to Harry Kane for some time now and they had made Muriqi one of their top targets.

The striker was one of the best in the Turkish league last season as he netted 17 times in 36 games for the Turkish giants.

He has been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side this summer, however, Spurs have been delaying making an effort after having a £4 million offer rejected in May.

Sky Italia via Team Talk is reporting that the striker is now the subject of a transfer tug of war between two Italian sides.

It claims that Lazio had reached an agreement with him and his team over a move to the Stadio Olimpico, however, Fiorentina is making a late attempt to hijack his move to the Italian capital.

Lazio believed that they have secured his services with an 18 million euros bid, but Fiorentina’s interest will now see the price go up as his current team look to spark a bidding war.

It now looks very unlikely that Muriqi will be joining Tottenham and Mourinho has recently turned his attention to the likes of Callum Wilson and Diego Costa.
