After so many years of utter incompetence from Daniel Levy it really is madness to have faith in him to get it right in this transfer window but what can I say? I do have that faith.
Levy is a clever man, he is a successful businessman but he is not a good chairman, not when it comes to recruiting players, especially over the last few seasons.
But even he knows that he cannot afford to get it wrong this time around. He knows that it is absolutely essential that Spurs sign a new striker and I am confident he will.
The loss of Harry Kane last season was a disaster and even if Son Heung-Min would have stayed fit it was always going to impact our top-four hopes. No top club can succeed with just one main striker and any hope we have of Spurs making the top four or even challenging for silverware will evaporate once again unless we sign a back up for Kane.
The England captain just will not go through the season uninjured, his style of play and the way he is targeted means injuries are almost guaranteed, his track record certainly shows that.
Tottenham needs more than just a backup striker but that is the key signing for sure, another left-back, possibly another right-back and maybe even a central defender are needed but it is the striker position that needs the most urgent surgery.
Levy will lose the fans completely if there is no back-up striker acquired and it is not as if he has the fulsome backing of the supporters as it is.
No point having a world-class stadium if it is not backed up on the field of play.
So, yes, it is madness but I do have faith in Daniel Levy to get it right at long last.
